Sad it takes yet another plugin to be installed, though. >:-[ The automatic substitution of emojis by the latest WP updates is absolutely ridiculous — ridiculous because, despite all the technical reasons given for the new sad state of affairs, we’re talking about computers here, folks: they do what they’re told by human coders! But WP developers are acting like they had no choice but to automatically substitute emojis as they tried improving WP support for Asian languages…geez, it feels like listening to politicians spin one of their latest inexcusable scandals!
Don’t worry so much about “yet another plugin”. The number of plugins you run doesn’t matter, only the code matters. This is an extremely lightweight plugin. It makes a few minor changes and that is that. Honestly, it probably speeds up your site by a fraction of a millisecond, in the long run. 🙂 Emoji support is not important, but the underlying changes to make that work are, and I don’t begrudge those. But, I like my Mr. Green and won’t give him up anytime soon.
