I am trying to update version 2.2.3 of Auto-Install Free SSL to the current version and I get the message: Update failed: The update cannot be installed because some files could not be copied. Auto_Install Free SSL seems to be working okay except for the inability to update it. @keithhulstaert This issue is caused by incorrect file permissions on your server (rather than being a problem with the plugin itself). WordPress isn’t able to properly access its own plugins folder, and as a result, can’t put the updated plugins files in there. Please check this article. I ended up manually uploading the new version directly via FTP. It now works. @keithhulstaert Most probably, it is caused by an incorrect ownership issue of the WordPress directory. Are you on shared hosting? If yes, please contact your web hosting company. They have control over it. Otherwise, if you are on a VPS, what is your web server? Apache or NGINX?

@keithhulstaert This issue is caused by incorrect file permissions on your server (rather than being a problem with the plugin itself). WordPress isn’t able to properly access its own plugins folder, and as a result, can’t put the updated plugins files in there. Please check this article.
