supportHello, I’m unable to set up Site Kit on my domain fungi-natura.com . I always get the error: Site Kit has already been configured by another admin of this site. To use Site Kit as well, sign in with your Google account which has access to Google services for this site (e.g. Google Analytics). Once you complete the 3 setup steps, you’ll see stats from all activated Google services Your site may not be ready for Site Kit Click here for more information, or to get more help, ask a question on our support forum and include the text of the original error message: google_api_connection_fail and when I click on Redo : Unable to retrieve site connection. You may need to perform a plugin reset. Here is what I have already done: Already tried your solution: Download this mini-plugin , which allows Site Kit setup over IPv4 instead of IPv6Upload the plugin file on your site by going to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin Once installed, click on the Activate button Try setting up Site Kit again and removed Site Kit permissions from my Google account deleted the Search Console property for fungi-natura.com reinstalled Site Kit tested in incognito mode verified that the REST API works correctly disabled security/cache plugins tried “Redo the plugin setup” multiple times Thank you for your help
Hi @orfevre13 , thanks for reaching out and for sharing all the steps you have tried so far. Please could you share the information below: Your Site Health information . You can use this form to share privately if preferred. Does the same happen after performing a Site Kit reset ? Have you tried setting up Site Kit in an Incognito browser ? And does the same issue occur? Once you have shared the above information I can review it and suggest some next steps to take. Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime.
Thank you for your answer. 1/ Done on your form, is it ok ? Did you receive it ? 2/ impossible : “This method is only available if you already set up the plugin” and I couldn’t set up th e plugin 3/ yes I have already tried.
@orfevre13 Thanks for sharing the information. While I review this, I will let you know that you can still reset the plugin by going to Tools > Available Tools >Reset Site Kit . Please can you try this and confirm if you see the same issue when trying to set up once more?
Thank you very much for your solution Tools > Available Tools >Reset Site Kit Now that works ! But on analytics I can not find the events : adding to cart, purchase, conversion, etc… How can I set these parameters ? Google site kit isn’t enough ? Thank you
@orfevre13 That’s great, you are very welcome! With regards to the events you mention, these can be captured by using the Site Kit Plugin conversion tracking option . As noted on the page, it integrates with a limited number of supported WordPress.org plugins which are listed for you to see. Please read through the page and let me know if you have any further questions that I can help with.
unfortunately these parameters are already enabled, nut no conversion tracking in analytics Enhanced Measurement : Enabled Plugin conversion tracking : Enabled
@orfevre13 When you mentioned that there’s no conversion tracking in Analyitcs, are you referring to this being on your Site Kit dashboard or your Analytics account ? If you could share some further context on this including screenshots or a recording that would be helpful. Please also feel free to share your Site Health information . You can use this form to share privately if preferred. With the above, I can investigate this further for you and suggest some next steps to take.
Yes I can not find any event concerning conversion (adding to cart, purchase, conversion) on analytics account and so on adwords. It was the goal of the installation of google site kit. I have sent the form with my website health information thank you
@orfevre13 Thanks for the update and sorry to hear this. When checking your site, I also don’t see these events so it’s possible there is a conflict in play here. To check for any such conflict, you can try disabling plugins one by one and checking for the events each time to see if they start to be tracked. If they are, you can then identify any such conflict source. We have also seen conflicts with themes in the past that have caused these events not to be tracked. Please try temporarily changing your theme to a default WordPress theme and checking for the events. Let me know how you get on with the above.
I think I’ve figured it out. Once logged into a client account, no more information is sent to analytics. I’ve looked for a setting that could explain this, but I haven’t found anything. Do you have any ideas?
@orfevre13 Thanks for the response. Could you please explain in more detail what you have found is happening please so that we are sure we understand it. Are you saying that you have configured this using another clients account and it is working with this other account? Please share as much information as possible which will help us to understand and help to find the cause/solution for you.
Not at all. I visit my website as a logged-out visitor, and the page views and some events are correctly recorded in analytics. Then, if I log in to a CLIENT account, like a regular customer, no data is recorded in analytics, not even the pages viewed. Am I clear ?
Thanks for the update @orfevre13 . It sounds like you may be referring to logged in user traffic. Indeed by default with a Site Kit placed Analytics snippet, logged in users (who can write posts, ie – administrators) will not be counted in Analytics visits. You can change this setting anytime within Site Kit settings . That way your own traffic will record. Note also that you may find the best way to review events and how they’re firing is to use the tagassistant.google.com service. Let us know if you have any questions with the above. Thank you.
As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
