Been trying to translate the “search…” for the search placeholder text and “back” in the shift menu but no luck. I am using Loco translate to manage translations on the site and have create Chinese (zh_TW) and Japanese languages in the app. I can see the two terms and have added the translations but they do not appear on the site. Tired placing the .po and .mo files in various locations directly in the language folder of the shiftnav pro plugin, in the language/plugins/shiftnav… folder and in the custom Loco language folder but no matter where I place them the strings are not translating on the site. Any thoughts? The page I need help with: [ log in to see the link] Funny fact: I was about to ask exactly the same question. However, I have tried to tanslate such strings using Theme and plugin translation for Polylang (TTfP) . But I cannot find such strings. Therefore, I would appreciate any ideas how to solve such multi-language problems. Hi there, For both the search placeholder and the back button text, the default text is localized (translatable), but the value is also configurable. That means, you can set the value to whatever you want in the settings (the Control Panel setting for the back button, the placeholder shortcode attribute for the search placeholder text), but if you do set a value there, it’ll override the translatable value. So, if you have a single-language site and want to change the value, you can use the setting/shortcode attribute to do so. If you have a multilingual site, then make sure not to set a value so that the default translatable strings are used, which can then be translated through your translation software of choice. Hope that helps! 🙂 Hi there, Thanks for your help. I was ableo to detect and translate the strings as explained by you. Many thanks. Kind regards This reply was modified 3 years, 2 months ago by finanzbeben . Thanks for the reply. Was able to get the “Search…” term sorted out with your answer but still no luck with the “back” term. I do not see any place called “Control Panel Settings” I am on version 1.4.0.1 though and may not be available in this older release. I have gone through everything and do not see where I would have entered custom text to override it. Best regards @finanzbeben great, glad to hear that! 🙂 @mafox2 You should always stay up to date with the latest version as a first step – the string may not have been translatable in that old version, I’m not sure off the top of my head. Once you are up to date, the ShiftNav settings are in Appearance > ShiftNav, and the “Back Button Text” setting can be found under the “General” tab. You’ll want to make sure it is blank if you want to be able to translate it via a translation plugin. Hope that helps! Hello, I have similar question regarding translation of “Toggle Content” text. I don’t see the relevant string in Polylang tables, and the same text is displayed in all languages. Can you give some advice? Kind Regards
