In Canada, the French word for “email” is “courriel,” while in France it’s ”e-mail.” I modified (with Poedit) the fr_FR file coming with the plugin, but my contact form and its settings still indicate “e-mail.” I created a fr_CA file and put it in the plugin’s language folder, to no avail. Finally I put the fr_CA file in my child-theme after creating three nested folders (plugins > clean-and-simple-contact-form-by-meg-nicholas > languages) to mimic the plugin structure. But that doesn’t work either. The page I need help with: [ log in to see the link] obvious question first, what language locale is your site set to in settings>general? second question, did you put the compiled .mo file in the folder? also you should really put custom files in wp-content/languages. The fr_CA.mo file was also added to the plugin languages. If I look at wp-content/languages, there is a lot of fr_FR files: mo, po, json, admin, etc. I think I’ll make a mess fiddling with them. My site is bilingual. Unfortunately, when I built it in 2014, I used qTranslate with this code: texte text . This plugin is no longer updated and my site crashes when I deactivate it.

obvious question first, what language locale is your site set to in settings>general? second question, did you put the compiled .mo file in the folder? also you should really put custom files in wp-content/languages. You may find it simpler to use a plugin like loco translate to translate specific strings.
