supportHello, I use the free version of the plugin for testing if it meets our needs. I am trying to translate this plugin to Greek and i uploaded po and mo files on plugin’s languages directory but it is not working. I also tried to do the translation via Loco translate plugin but still nothing. Is it something else that i have to try or to do for making it work properly? If i switch language from wordpress settings to German i can see that the plugin pulls the translation strings. What am i missing? My filenames are: boorecipe-el_EL.mo & boorecipe-el_EL.po and are valid according to poedit and Loco Translate but is not translated 100% yet (not all the strings translated yet).
It doesn’t look like this plugin is translatable. I’m not the plugin author but I can share how this can be solved. As seen on https://wp-info.org/tools/checkplugini18n.php?slug=boo-recipes , this plugin needs to update the textdomain. ERROR: Your plugin slug is boo-recipes, but your Text Domain is boorecipe. Change your Text Domain so it is equal to your slug and modify the text domain in all your source files. This change is needed because your “Requires at least” is below 4.6. @boospot , it’d be great if you could consider making this imporovement for international users. @nao This is exactly what i found out about the issue. The problem is i am struck due to this COVID situation and does not have all the tools i require to work on coding side. I am trying to get this done by the end of the week or so.
@zachostaf With this update, your translation file names should be: boo-recipes-el_EL.mo and boo-recipes-el_EL.po Hope it helps, Please check now. Hi @nao , I have updated the plugin to use the correct text-domain. I have translation files for German in the languages folder but its not automatically picked by the WordPress.org translation setup, don’t know why…. BooSpot Team
@boospot Hello again, sorry for the delayed answer! I updated the plugin and I have tried, following your guidance to translate the plugin (using boo-recipes-el_EL.mo and boo-recipes-el_EL.po files) but it didn’t work. I have also tried to install wpml for setting Greek language from there but it also didn’t work. Finally, I tried again using Loco Translate but nothing changed. Do you want me, to send you my translation files to check it? I have some strings translated, such as Yields, Ingredints and Instrunctions from where you can understand whenever the plugin reacts as it has to. As it concerns the German translation, it works fine when i am changing the default wordpress language from Greek to German. I really cannot understand what is happening. Best Regards
@zachostaf , Sorry to hear about this situation, please share the files with me and i shall try troubleshoot. Regards, BooSpot Team
@boospot You can download them from here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=18jfKhYIF8viyDk2a6ohxtWofucgNXF8W Once you will fix it, I will complete the translation and I can send you the new files to include them in a future version of the plugin if you wish to. Best Regards
Hi @zachostaf i have checked and the issue is with the language code you are using with the plugin file names. it should be plugin-name-el.po (not plugin-name-el_EL.po) as WordPress does not recognize the local version of language for Greek and just recognize top level language identifier. Here is a screenshot: https://prnt.sc/schqf8 How do i know this? well, you may check this screenshot: https://prnt.sc/schsnr and you may also check https://translate.wordpress.org/ and try the filter your language: German: https://prnt.sc/schuxt Greek: https://prnt.sc/schwag i hope it helps. Regards, BooSpot
@boospot Thanks a lot! It plays perfectly! I will share with you, in this topic, the translation files within the next week if you want to include them in a future version.
@zachostaf Sure, Please send me the files and i shall include in the plugin. Appreciate for sharing with community. – Rao
