Spurious character at end of text line

I am trying to use this plugin to create a couple of input lines of text for embroidery on some clothing, however the first line of text entered always has a spurious “/” character at the end which is not in the input text. This image shows the issue. I have limited the text to 20 after which the / appears. Can you clarify how to clear this out of the form?
