I’ve used this plugin for years in 50+ client projects. Unfortunately, since the revamp (v5) in February 2025 it has turned into a usability nightmare. The intentions behind the changes were probably good… maybe to make the tool more accessible for non-technical users? But the execution is a disaster. The developers opted for many non-standard interaction patterns—likely to give the tool a more ‘app-like’ feel. The result is that it now feels like an unpredictable alien element within the WordPress installation. I held back this review for half a year and really tried to stick with BackWPup. But in the end, it has become so cumbersome for me that I’m switching to another solution. Hi @mandolito , Thank you for sharing this, and I completely understand where your frustration comes from. You’ve been with BackWPup for years, and it means a lot that you gave version 5 such a fair chance before deciding. We’ve been working steadily on restoring and improving many of the things users like yourself asked for, including multiple jobs, combined backups, and more flexible scheduling. But if the latest versions still feel difficult to work with, I’d really like to know what exactly remains broken or frustrating in your daily use. That’s the only way we can fix it and make it right for you. If you can share specifics with us through support, we’ll take it seriously and act on it. I’d like to make sure you don’t feel forced to switch away after so many years with BackWPup. Best regards,
