review · 1 starsThis requires another plugin (Jetpack), which isn’t really mentioned in the description until the FAQ. Otherwise, it doesn’t do anything. This is unfortunate as I only wanted to use this plugin for tax rates.
Hi @kpudlo We are truly sorry about the Jetpack requirement not being clearly shown in the documentation. We are improving our documentation and have added information regarding Jetpack: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-shipping-and-tax/ And WooCommerce Shipping & Tax uses Jetpack, because critical services are hosted on Automattic’s servers, rather than relying on your store’s hosting. But having said that, have you faced any issues related to Jetpack? Please let us know how we can help you. best,
Once you create a connection, can you just disable jetpack?
Hi there Vitaliy, Once you create a connection, can you just disable jetpack? With WooCommerce Shipping & Tax, critical services are hosted on Automattic’s servers, rather than relying on your store’s hosting. Jetpack is used for this link, so disconnecting or disabling Jetpack will disable the link to the Automattic servers. Thus, please do not disable Jetpack if you want WooCommerce Tax and or WooCommerce Shipping to work as expected. Regards, Sven
Jetpack is bordering scam with this kind of aggressive tactics . I hope it will fire up on them big. Nobody wants Jetpack because it is bloatware and damages your website as it makes it much slower. Forcing users to install jetpack to have Taxes is a Auttomatic disgrace.

Currently, Jetpack is required for WooCommerce Shipping & Tax to function properly to receive the tax rates, but Jetpack shouldn’t be making it more difficult for you to run your site. If you’re not using any other Jetpack functionality – feel free to disable the Jetpack modules you’re not using: https://jetpack.com/support/control-jetpack-features-on-one-page/ https://jetpack.com/support/woocommerce-services-and-jetpack/ If you are seeing that Jetpack is still activating the features even after you disable them within the plugin, please contact us at WooCommerce.com > My Account > Support .
