Recent spam and brute force attacks prompted me to install this plugin on my multisite network, and it works really well! It needs some minor configuration on the server up front, but once that was all set, it instantly started banning IP’s that violated the defined filters. Highly recommended. Minor point of criticism: links to the documentation don’t work in the plugin
