My Setup: WordPress 6.3.1 EMA 0.5.0 ActivityPub 1.0 My Instance appears in Ice Cubes ( albeit with the email: not@public.example (where is this email coming from?) ) Clicking Sign-in redirects to my wordpress login page . After Sign-in , Ice Cubes displays “Once you have signed in with Safari you can continue in the Ice Cubes app. Clicking Done redirects to the Ice Cubes Instance Info Page again. How do I escape this loop and make proper use of Enable Mastodon Apps? This topic was modified 2 years, 8 months ago by MindCreatesMeaning . This topic was modified 2 years, 8 months ago by MindCreatesMeaning . I’ve released 0.6.1 today, would you be willing to test it and tell me if this fixed it for you? Thanks! Yes, I’ll eagerly test this soon and report my findings. Preliminary Findings: (Note: Haven’t tried with other plugins deactivated yet) Successfully, opens app browser and takes me to my wordpress login page. I can successfully login. I’m taken to my wordpress backend. Mastodon app (Ice Cubes) doesn’t redirect me back into the app from the app browser. Mastodon app continues to say “Sign In”. Never changes. Enable Mastodon Apps v0.6.1 WordPress 6.3.2 No luck with the new version. Still experiencing the problem outlined here. Following up on this issue. Any insights on whether this is a documented, widely experienced phenomenon or this individual user’s error. Sorry, I can just say that I can log in with Ice Cubes on macOS. Could you try temporarily changing your default browser to Safari? Maybe the browser you are using doesn’t support redirecting back to an app. Safari is my default browser for macOS and iOS. Does this plugin depend upon or use .htaccess, /.well-known/, or webfinger? Perhaps manual changes or directives need to be added? It doesn’t. After the login works, a redirect back to the app happens. For Ice Cubes that should be icecubesapp:// , here you can see a screenshot from my Enable Mastodon Apps settings page: If that redirect back doesn’t work, it’s more of a sign that in your browser or operating system the “handler” for the “protocol” icecubesapp has not been registered properly. Maybe you are using some tool that blocks it? Mastodon apps > Apps > Icecubes redirect displays properly. App redirect never happens. And inside of Mastodon Apps > Delete outdated and Delete apps without tokens always deletes full list of Icecubes apps. When entering a WordPress Instance URI, what should the email field read? Should it be an email associated with the WordPress installation? The e-mail field is somewhat irrelevant. It’s just a field of the Mastodon API method v2/instance and it is intended for public instances where you need to be able to contact the administrator. Could you try what happens if you enter icecubesapp:// in your Safari as the URL? Does this dialog show? The stabdalone dialogue does open when I point browser to icecubesapp:// 👍 Anything else I should test? (Thanks for the info on the email field).
