supportHave been using this plugin for years without trouble but the latest version 3.6.8 broke my site. Rolled back to the previous version 3.6.7 and all is fine again. So, be careful. Received an email about a problem just after updating the plugin. Checked the website. Had small problems with Brand filter not showing on checkout page. And some brand logos not displaying. Rolled the website back to before the update and the problem is solved.
@peterc7 Hi mate, Please share your PHP error log details PHP stores error logs in /var/log/apache2 if PHP is an apache2 module. Shared hosts are often storing log files in your root directory subfolder. If you’re using cPanel, the master log file you’re probably looking for is stored (by default) at: /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log If you’re not sure where to find PHP error logs please contact your hosting provider. Best regards, Quadlayers Support Team.
This from WordPress.com when I first seen the problem after updating. Hi Peter, Thanks so much for your patience with us – we weren’t able to catch you on live chat earlier, and our response times have been a bit slower than usual as we work through a backlog. We really appreciate you hanging in there. I’m sorry to hear the Perfect Brands for WooCommerce plugin update caused trouble on your site. Smart thinking to roll it back right away! I took a look at your site logs [https://wordpress.com/site-logs] but wasn’t able to pinpoint a specific error tied to that plugin. The best next step would be to report what you experienced directly to the plugin developers (QuadLayers) through their support forum here: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/perfect-woocommerce-brands/ – and despite what you may have heard, WordPress.com users absolutely can use that forum to report issues. Since it’s a third-party plugin, they’ll have the best insight into what went wrong and whether it’s safe to update again. And if there’s anything else we can help with, just let us know – happy to assist! PS. I have also noticed that on the WordPress dashboard I now have two “Brands” under the “Products” heading one is complete as it was filled out. And the other is blank. Sorry I can’t be of much help.
Hi Peter, @peterc7 Thanks for the additional details. Just to clarify, WordPress.com support won’t be able to provide the PHP error logs we’re looking for. Those logs are generated and stored by your hosting provider, not by WordPress itself. To help us identify what caused the issue in version 3.6.8, please check the server PHP error log directly from your hosting environment. Common locations are: /var/log/apache2/error.log (Apache servers) /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log (many cPanel setups) Or via your hosting control panel (cPanel / Plesk → Error Logs) If you’re unsure where to find them, your hosting provider can point you to the correct log file. Once you have any related errors from the moment you updated the plugin, please share them with us here and we’ll be happy to investigate further.
