supportI need to decide between WPMailster and WPMG for a new club website. I’ve been using Mailster on Joomla for this club for many years but I really like the look of WPMG. Several alarm bells are ringing: The installation FAQ at https://www.wpmailinggroup.com/faq/quick-start-in-6-steps/ just gives an error message saying “There has been a critical error on this website.” There have been no reviews since 2021. No entries in the support forum since 9 months ago. The developer can only be contacted direct through Twitter/X which requires a paid subscription. Can anyone reassure me that the project is alive and well? Thank you Philip, Perth Australia
I tried the free version and liked the way it work so jumped in and purchased the premium version today. Now I’ve hit some roadblocks so I reinstalled it in a fresh wordpress installation and the problems are still there. When I try to import users to a mailing group it throws up an error. That part works in the free version. Tried to send an email to the mailing group and it never arrived. The log keeps throwing up an error like this: “PHP Warning: session_start(): Session cannot be started after headers have already been sent in /*****/wp/wp-content/plugins/wp-mailing-group-premium/mailing-group-module.php on line 877”. Another error in the log shows “thrown in /*****/wp/wp-content/plugins/wp-mailing-group-premium/lib/receivemail.class.php on line 147”. Despite the advertising saying support is available, the contact form has been removed from the website. A note on the website that I noticed after paying says “This plugin is no longer being supported.” It seems that WP Mailing Group is probably no longer compatible with the current versions of WordPress and PHP. Now that I’ve written this in the only available communication channel to the supplier, I am opening a dispute through Paypal to get a refund.
Apologies for the inconvenience. We’ve been working on several updates to our codebase and have now released a refreshed, secure version of the Mailing Group Listserv plugin—both the free and paid versions. Please give the latest free version a try and let us know what you think!
Hi Yamna Sorry, I am confused. My installation says I have Pro version 4.0.0 and it does not indicate that an update is available. The version on the WordPress Plugins menu is only 3.0.2. It does say it was updated 9 hours ago. The changelog only goes up to version 3.0.0. If a version later than 4.0.0 is available, how can I obtain it? Thank you Philip Maley
The Pro version and Free versions are on different version at the moment. Free is on 3.0.3 and Pro is on 4.0.1. For pro plugin contact the premium plugin support link. The last 2 changes to pro plugin are: =4.0.1 *Fixed bugs from last release. *Fixed emails displaying html tags. =4.0.0 *Changed the plugin to follow WordPress Standards, making it more secure and safe from sql injections. *Fixed errors in mailing group not editable.
