Hello, after the update to 5.4.1 I have multible errors on my webside and my hoster told that the Plugin currently requires a large number of database resources. The request select visit_id from ddc_slim_stats where visit_id = ? is causing a problem. I had to deactivate the plugin for the time being. Hi @guenther999 , Thanks for the detailed report — the stack trace and system info made it easy to pinpoint the problem. You’ve hit a confirmed bug in 5.4.1. The intval() error in the REST endpoint ( /slimstat/v1/hit ) happens because WordPress passes three arguments to sanitize callbacks, but PHP 8’s strict mode rejects the extra argument. Every pageview triggers this fatal error, which explains the high database load your hoster flagged — the repeated failed requests put constant pressure on the server. We’ve already fixed this in v5.4.2 , which is releasing very soon. The fix replaces the problematic intval call with a proper wrapper that handles WordPress’s callback signature correctly. The update also includes a new database index on the stats table that should further improve query performance on large sites like yours. Once v5.4.2 is available, updating from the WordPress plugins page should resolve both the error and the server load. You can safely reactivate SlimStat after updating. Hi @guenther999 , Good news — version 5.4.2 is now available and includes the fix for the intval() error as well as improvements to the visit ID query that was causing the high database load on your server. You can now safely reactivate the plugin and update to v5.4.2 through your WordPress dashboard (Dashboard > Updates). Both issues should be fully resolved after the update. Let us know how it goes!

Hi @guenther999 , We just released v5.4.6 , and we wanted to circle back here because this update addresses the broader issues that came with the 5.4.x line — not just the intval() error you reported, but everything else that went wrong. Upgrading to 5.4.x broke tracking for many users. Visitor counts dropped to zero, IPs were masked without permission, and a consent banner appeared on sites that never asked for one. Version 5.4.6 fixes all of that. After updating, your site works the way it did before 5.4.0 — no manual steps required. Since you’re running WP Rocket, please clear your cache after updating the plugin. Then visit a few pages on your site and check the Access Log to confirm new data is being recorded.
