Hi Nick, I was wondering if it is normal behavior for the widgets not to hold content in case something fails, or if that’s a result of the latest WP and Genesis upgrades. A site I am working on had a little blip and while the other widgets remained in place I had to rebuild the Featured Page Advance. Not a biggy but I had crafted the custom captions really nicely and had no way to find the copy and had to re-write. Should it normally be in the “inactive” area if for some reason it gets disabled? Just wondering. Still love it.
Hi jrotem, Lets just say it is not the intended behavior. It is curious that they were just not thrown into the “inactive” widgets area like you mentioned. I played around with it and was able to replicate the issue. That said the issue also occurs with the Genesis Featured Page plugin (the one that comes stock with all Genesis themes). This plugin is an extension of that one, so it is not surprising the “issue” is in both. I am honestly not sure what is causing this, but I will try and figure it out. Sorry for the inconvenience! Nick
In case this helps you, I should have mentioned that it happened following my activating a different theme to help solve the initial (not plugin related) debugging problem; when I reverted back to the proper theme, that was when I found the plugin issues. Some plugins I merely had to re-enable. The stock Genesis Featured Page widget was indeed in the inactive pile, but of course with no content as I used yours and not that one. As I said, it’s all good — one of my favorite plugins along with your featured image plugin– but I hope those extra details help you if you want to figure it out. 🙂 BTW did you know there is a great Genesis Slack group?
