supportPerformance Lab plugin not working. Running: WordPress 6.8 | PHP 8.2.28 | Web Server Apache | MySQL 8.0.39-30 Google Site Kit advised this Plugin for speed, but is not working. What is “ Plugin not found in API response ” and how to fix this. Installed all 8 extras. “Failed to query WordPress.org Plugin Directory for the following plugin:” Is this plugin outdated? And not working on WP 6.8?
@dissoww Thank you for the screenshots. Are you hosted on WP Engine or Flywheel by chance? We’ve seen issues before where Performance Lab is unable to query the WordPress.org API as expected: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-not-found-in-api-response/ https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-not-found-9/ It seems WP Engine has a mirror of the WordPress.org directory and have implemented their own API which doesn’t replicate all of the functionality which results in these broken API calls. It also seems their mirror is stale because if you look at the WordPress.org plugin directory listing on at https://wordpress.org/plugins/performance-lab/ you can see that it says “Tested up to 6.8” and that the active installation count is 200,000+, whereas your screenshot says it was tested up to 6.7.2 and there are only 100K+ active installations. So it seems the metadata is stuck and it seems you can’t rely on what is reported in your wp-admin for the latest information. So you can instead just look at what the WordPress.org directory listing says, and for installation of the plugins you can install them directly instead of installing them via Performance Lab (as it appears you have done). In reality, the Performance Lab plugin is primarily just a shortcut to discover the plugins that the Performance team is working on. I suggest forwarding this support topic to your host’s support to alert them of the issue with plugin directory API calls.
