supportSince updating to 10.8.0 I am getting the message Changes that you made may not be saved when adding a note to an order and clicking the Update button. It seems to think I am leaving unsaved changes, however if I click Leave in the popup it goes ahead and performs the update. The popup should not appear – this is a change of behaviour since updating.
Hi there, Thank you for reporting this issue. I understand the concern. Based on your description, it appears that after updating to WooCommerce 10.8.0, the admin is showing the “Changes that you made may not be saved” browser warning when adding an order note and clicking the Update button, even though the order update still completes successfully after clicking “Leave.” To help us investigate this further, could you please share the following: Your site URL A screenshot of the warning popup/message you are seeing System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs. Please use https://pastebin.com/ or https://gist.github.com/ and share a link to that paste in reply here. Once we have more information, we’ll be able to assist you further. Thank you!
I just updated to 10.8.1 and the problem still persists. Here are the details: URL: snappytickets.co.uk System report: https://pastebin.com/0XeYz6Cm There are no fatal logs. Image of error: https://postimg.cc/t7gn4Xdq This is happening on multiple sites running completely different plugins and doesn’t happen with 10.7.0 so it is something introduced in 10.8.0 onwards. On your own debug version can you try adding a Customer provided note: (edit the shipping portion of an order) then updating the order. Let me know what you see.
Hi there! Thank you for providing more information about the issue. I have checked the system status report, and everything appears to be fine there. However, I also tried to replicate the issue on my own test site, and I was not able to reproduce it. Everything is working correctly on my end. This indicates that there might be a plugin or theme conflict on your site, or possibly a plugin that is not fully compatible with the latest version of WooCommerce. To assist you further, could you please create a staging site, deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce, activate a default theme such as Twenty Twenty-Five, and then try to replicate the issue again? You can use the following plugin to create a staging site: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-staging/ For more details on how to run a conflict test, please refer to this guide: https://woo.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/ Please let us know what you find after testing.
Thanks for getting back to me. I created a fresh wordpress site at https://tastewp.com/ using v7 wordpress, their default theme which is Twenty Twenty-Three. I loaded Woocommerce 10.8.1 and created an order. When I add a customer note in the order screen I get the same problem, so to me it looks like a problem in your plugin. I rolled back to 10.7.0 and the problem goes away. Here is a video of the problem: https://www.loom.com/share/ce615c99b6ce48ef9f673ae7b2268ac8
Hi there! Thank you for sharing the video. I can now see what is happening. From the video, I noticed that you are adding the note within the shipping details section. Could you please try adding the note using the Order Notes option available in the right-hand sidebar instead, and let us know whether you still encounter the same issue? I also followed the steps shown in your video and was able to reproduce the behavior on my end. Since this appears to be a bug, I recommend creating a GitHub issue here: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues When submitting the report, please include the video you shared with us, along with the steps to reproduce the issue. This will help our developers investigate further and provide additional guidance. Thanks!
