supportA recent update broke the “broken links” emails being sent when using the local engine. Each broken link in the email has the following format: Link text : Hiking Western Death Valley National Park Link URL : https://adventuretaco.com/go/hiking-western-death-valley-national-park… Source : View: Hardest Hike Ever | Panamint City #1 | Edit: Hardest Hike Ever | Panamint City #1 The first link there (link URL) works, however both the “View” and “Edit” links are now missing the site root domain. Respectively, their hrefs are: * https:/hardest-hike-ever-panamint-city-1/ * https:/wp-admin/post.php?post=7752&action=edit Additionally, at the bottom of the email, the text now reads as follows, which, again, is also missing the //domain portion of the email. You can see all broken links here: https:/wp-admin/admin.php?page=blc_local At any rate, it looks like some URL handling was messed up somewhere, and needs to be fixed. I’m not sure what version I was running (that worked) on 3/16/2026, but I updated the plugin to version 2.4.8, which what caused it to break.
Hi @turbodb , We have brought this further to our BLC teams attention to have a better idea what might have caused such a behaviour. Will keep you posted once we get further feedback asap. Regrads, Nithin
Thanks. Happy to provide more info if you need it, but it doesn’t look like I can attach anything here (like one of the emails).
Hi @turbodb , Could you please provide site info? You should find that in your WP dashboard under Tools > Site Health > Info and by clicking the “Copy site info to Clipboard” button. You can also check whether you have any redirection plugins. Or any custom plugins/theme that uses admin_url or site_url filters? You can share the site info or attach any files using Google Drive, Dropbox, or pastebin, and share the URL with us Regards, Nithin
I’d rather not post this information on the public internet, which has a long memory and lots of bad actors. Feel free to shoot me an email and I’ll be happy to attach it to a reply. info@adventuretaco.com I do have the plugin “Redirection” installed ( Redirection – WordPress plugin | WordPress.org ), but was last updated March 2, 2026, two weeks before this broke (when BLC was updated). Thanks!
Hi @turbodb , You can share the Google Drive and any other info to the following email wpsupport@incsub.com using this template to share the requested info: Subject: ATTN: WPMU DEV support - wp.org Message: Ticket URL: Site info: Could we also know if you get the same issue if you tried the older version of BLC, you can find the previous version in here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/broken-link-checker/advanced/ Regards, Nithin
Is there a way I can force an email to get sent once I downgrade the plugin, or do I need to wait for the cron job to run?
Hello @turbodb You can force sending an email by triggering the cron event manually, there is a plugin that can help you with that. https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-crontrol/ The event name is “blc_cron_email_notifications” which is running daily. This issue might be related to a conflict so you can try using that plugin to run a full conflict test by disabling all other plugins. Best Regards Amin
Hi @turbodb We haven’t heard from you in a while, I’ll go and mark this thread as resolved. If you have any additional questions or require further help, please let us know! Best Regards Patrick Freitas
