Best Security Plugin in 2025

I’ve used a lot of security plugins over the last 15 years of building wordpress sites, like, all of them. Everything has its pros and cons, but of the currently available options, I find Defender to truly be the best. Price-wise even their paid plans are cheaper than the big names. I also like that it doesn’t slow your site down, doesn’t have constant non-sense notifications, and actually gets the job done automatically. I use the free plan on most sites without any issue. I only use the paid plan on sites where e-commerce is handled. They regularly add new features, many of them free, which helps secure wordpress more and more. Anyways, do your own objective research and decide what is right for your use case, but I’d still likely recommend Defender for whatever it is.
