review · 2 stars“ Want to protect your entire WordPress site ? Password Protected plugin makes it easy! “ It does that, true. But don’t get fooled by the long list of features mentioned here on .org, or the 17 tabs of options in the plugin; those are premium options. I understand the desire to monetize plugins, but the description of Password Protected fooled me. It’s really not clear by the description, at least not to me, which features are premium, and that does look deliberate. If you just want to password protect the entire site, you can absolutely do it with this plugin . But it’s unnecessarily convoluted and frankly bloated with up-selling, and there are way easier and less noisy ways to password protect entire sites.

Well, I was confused by the section with the following heading and subheadings: Password Protect Entire WordPress Site With These Features: Complete Site Protection Passwordless Admin Access’ Add Google Recaptcha IP Address Whitelisting Specific Post/Page Protection User Role Whitelisting WP-Admin Protection Password Attempt Activity Report (Weekly) Custom Post Type Protection Category/Taxonomy Protection Certain Page/Posts Exclusions Limit Login Attempts Password Expiration and Usage Limit Bypass URL Detailed Activity Logs Lock Screen Customization Multiple Password Management It’s not clear, at least to me, that some of these features are not free, especially when the entire section, is followed by this headline: 5 Key Reasons Why You Should Opt for Password Protected Pro — I was assuming that PRO features are listed here It’s not unusual to see separate lists of free and pro features. Many plugin descriptions do that. Some are very distinct about labeling PRO features, like this example: Specific Post/Page Protection [PRO] User Role Whitelisting [PRO] WP-Admin Protection [PRO] That would make it more clear, to me, what is free and what is pro. Just a suggestion.
