supportHi All, Godaddy recently informed us that they were moving a our Ultimate WordPress hosting to a new server. I thought, “OK, that shouldn’t be a problem.” Boy was I WRONG. I’ve now spent to whole week dealing with permissions errors, cache errors and directory errors especially when it comes to trying to save my ALM repeater templates to the proper folder in the directory structure. I finally got this all squared away but I thought it would be helpful to list here everything I had to do to correct various errors. 1) if you are using an optimizing plug-in like Autoptimize, empty its cache and disable it. It doesn’t seem to play nice with the caching that ALM uses. Also Godaddy has their CDN cache so there’s no further need for it. 2) If you run it an error like I did where you couldn’t save ALM templates into /wp-content/uploads/alm-templates, go into the ALM settings and under templates, choose download your templates (or copy the code and paste into a new PHP doc) and save the templates to your desktop. Next,go to you worpress theme’s directory and create a folder named “alm_templates” and make sure it has the permission of 755. Inside this folder is where you’ll want to drop the templates that you saved. 3) Now go back into the ALM plugin settings. Click on the “Templates” choice (which is just below single posts). You should now see not only your theme template but also the “alm_templates” folder you created. Click on its radio button. This will connect the templates back up. 4) But you aren’t done yet. You now have to make sure if you are ALM pro users to have the addons CACHE and Preloaded installed and activated. The other addons are are import as well, however with Godaddy’s caching issues I’m just discussing those. two. 5) Once those addons are activated. Then you need to clear godaddy’s CDN cache. If you have a firewall, you’ll also need to clear its cache as well. You should now see ALM working properly again. I know I’m probably missing something here but I’ve been dealing with issue for a week now while I’ve been battling a huge case of the flu. Quite frankly, I’m kinda surprised I was able think through this issue while coughing my brains out. The page I need help with: [ log in to see the link]
Hi @edrflynn Please see my response in this thread. https://wordpress.org/support/topic/default-alm-template-is-missing-from-the-filesystem-click-the-save-template/#post-18811096 I’ll work on a solution and keep you posted. This reply was modified 3 months, 3 weeks ago by Darren Cooney .
Thank you Darren. You posted an excellent solution and it helped greatly. Hopefully my little hack also helps anyone who experiences a similar issue. Although I doubt many will since it turned out that the problems I was having with ALM turned were due to nothing that was ALM’s fault. Godaddy, in all its infinite wisdom, decided to migrate my client’s websites to a new server but didn’t bother to check for the proper permission settings, nor, and this is the one that screams “imbeciles” to me, check to make sure they didn’t screw up the DNS records, which of course they did. Thankfully, my flu had subsided enough for me to see the giant idiotic mistakes that Godaddy made and I corrected their errors. Things fell back into place properly once the DNS records propagated. As for ALM, I can’t yell loud enough on how great that plugin is and how well Darren supports it. The pro version of the plugin is a must have when it comes to loading custom templates for post types.
Quick update. ALM 7.8.3 was just released includes a fallback to create missing templates on the fly. This feature is actually a big win for the plugin overall. Hope this fixes any issues with GoDaddy.
Also, thank you @edrflynn for your kind words 🙂
