supportOur ISP address at Bluehost was recently on a UCEPROTECTL3 blacklist, and I am wondering if our listserv may have done this. The reason is that people on this list like to respond with “Thanks” and that leads to many emails from the same sender. Also I do not have an unsubscribe link in the emails. We have 20 people on this list. Am I possibly the culprit, or someone else at my shared hosting provider? Can I improve my compliance with CAN-SPAM?
Hello @treanormp It is pure speculation to say that you are / are not the culprit in any shared hosting environment. Normally mailing list messages do not land you on blacklists, since in most cases all list members / recipients / participants have a high interest in receiving the emails and are unlikely to report/flag that incoming messages. However involved email hosters can of course still do that. So including unsubscribe links is still recommended and also to check on the amount of email you are allowed to send per second/minute/hour (hosters always have such limits) and use the WP Mailster settings for send throttling to make sure you are staying under that. Thanks!
Thank you for your quick and thorough reply, and apologies for not acknowledging for over a month. It does appear this UCEPROTECT-Level3 blacklist is due to a neighbor in my shared hosting neighborhood, as I have been off and on the list since then without broadcasting emails. The impact is minimal as an email to the listserv was successful today while I am still on that list. SPAMHAUS blocked it last time – now I’m not sure why!
