Please help me with the problem this other user is describing: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/sub-categories-404ing/ Hi @tatof Are you also using WPML? Having this problem also since a few days (probably after updating WPML). Mark Yes, I took it to the wpml support and after 6 hours of trail and error we came up with this solution: Turn off the following plugins: – Redirection – WPML Multilingual CMS – WPML String Translation – WPML Translation Management Goto permalinks and save the “Plain” setting. Then change it back to your wishes. “/%category%/%postname%/” Test your news archive slug. Turn on the following plugins one-by-one and test the archive slug every step: 1 WPML Multilingual CMS 2 WPML String Translation 3 WPML Translation Management 4 Redirection TADA! fixt. Not happy with this fix but it worked for me. @lamalama https://wpml.org/forums/topic/category-redirect-broker-version-4-2/#post-3216158 If I may be a little more specific / clear and I understand you and the wpml.org thread correctly: This fix is temporarily and only lasts until you add another post. With ‘Redirection’ plugin you mean the ‘Remove Category URL’ plugin. This reply was modified 7 years, 3 months ago by laptopleon . Reason: forgot to check the 'notify me of follow-up replies' option Yes. And no, with the redirection plugin I mean redirection plugin: https://nl.wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/ But I’ve learned that that doesnt has to do anything with the problem. So.. the catogorie problem lies in the combination of.. WordPress 5 + WPML + Yoast? Redirection has nothing to do with it -> OK But.. Just to be clear. I still assume it only occurs when the Remove Category URL plugin is active, right? For as for as we can see the problem is the combination between the latest version of WPML and the Remove Category URL plugin. As soon as we downgraded WPML back to 4.1.3 everything worked fine. Does it have something to do with the function related to WPML in the Remove Category URL plugin? @laptopleon Yes thats correct, it also occurs with the “remove category base url” option in Yoast or when you do it yourself with .htaccess @lamalama Its definitely WPML in combination with change of the category slug (with any plugin or system), there support/dev team is on it. I hope it will be fixed soon. Thanks for the heads up. Can you post an update as soon as your hear something from them? Many thanks! I can do you one better, this is the topic @ wpml: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/category-redirect-broker-version-4-2/#post-3216158
